Setting up PC as a wifi access point for ps3/wifi devices FFFUUUUUU
booostin posted a topic in Computer & Video Games
Ok so, I had set up this pc before to work as a wifi access point before and it worked, but since the new modem router has arrived I keep getting DNS errors on my wireless devices/ps3... I can VERY rarely sign in with said devices for a short period of time (best I got was 1 hr yippee) The modem router is a netcomm NB6 ADSL2+ modem router The wireless router is netgear wireless N WNR2000 and the wifi adaptor is a Realtek RTL8187B USB WLAN adaptor The network for the pc currently goes: PC (wired) > Wireless router (wired) > Modem router I cannot connect to the wireless router because the signal is 20-30% at best whereas the usb wifi adaptor is like 55-75% (f**k off antenna ) I have scoured the interwebz before I decided to post up here (I dont like letting pc issues beat me) and tried many things but I was hoping maybe some guru could save the day... Notes on the setup; Wifi adaptor and router are in the same room, have tried different channels - no success. I have noticed that when I uninstall the wifi adaptor utility and reinstall its tends to work but again for a short period of time when the devices are on auto detect settings. I have manually entered all settings into the ps3-although I am unsure whether I have given the correct details as the DNS setting are different for both the modem and router/pc? Sorry for the long post I just thought I cut some crap and put up as much info as I could. And before anyone tells me to get a new router I would rather run a a 50m ethernet cable under the house than spend money on a new router... -
Attempt at iPhone car integration - GPS Music Internet
Alistair Moorby posted a topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Hi all, I just picked up a Soarer last week, it had a double DIN DVD player installed. I don't ever see myself playing DVD's in it so I thought what else can be done? I pulled it apart to find some RCA cables labelled AV in. I grabbed a composite apple TV out cable and plugged it in. It worked great for audio and video files but I wanted a way to display GPS and music track info. After jailbreaking my phone I installed SBRotator 5 which allows me to make the springboard (all the icons) landscape and lock the rotation there. I also installed Display Out which allows me to mirror every iPhone function to the 7" Display in the car. My initial goal was to be able to play audio through the car speakers using the iPhone to control the tracks whilst also charging the iPhone. This solution has achieved that goal with the added bonus of being able to display GPS maps (or anything else) on the 7" screen. I just uploaded a video to youtube showing a demonstration.- 4 replies
